I admire my grandpa because he is the closest thing to a dad that I have ever had. Grandpa is really good at hunting, so he lets me hunt with him. Also, grandpa is trained with guns. Grandpa was trained with guns in the army. Shortly after grandpa got married to grandma, he got drafted into the army. In the army is where grandpa got his education. Also, he has had other important jobs that have taught him a lot. Grandpa is good with his hands. He is extremely good at farming, black smithing, and wood working. He has also taught me a lot of things. He could teach a class about hunting, wood working, and assist in history. He is the closest thing to a dad that I have ever had. He is smart, he knows a lot about hunting, tracking, and good at wood working. He is caring, too. He loves me just like I were his son. He is always there to support me, at my side, and helps me through times of hardship. He is tough, he stands strong, (sometimes is stubborn) sometimes he is a little frightened by stuff in life, yet he never backs down. He is tough mainly because he was in the army. He was in the army. It can be proved because he is tough, and knows how to survive. In the army he learned how to use guns, a good skill. In his training I guess he had to learn to hunt. He was an E-4 Specialist, or a Corporal. This affects me because he makes me follow a routine. In the cold war, he was stationed at a missile launching area, and he knew how to launch the missiles and how to repair them. This affects me because it adds to the list of family members that were in the military (My brother, my biological father, my other brother, and my grandpa.) In the army he was built strong, and gained endurance. Much of which you need to raise a farm. He is currently living on a farm. This affects me because the farm is a beautiful place in Illinois to relax, work if you want, and just enjoy the nature in his woods (Not counting the trash careless people have thrown in the woods). He is currently raising a heard of cows, with one bull though. This affects me because it means that I have only one bull to throw the not yet ripe apples at. All the young male calfs he turns into steers. This affects me because it means that I can't study a bulls behavior in it's child hood. In order to keep the herd a live, he has to bail hay. So he has a tractor with a bail machine. This affects me because now I can drive the tractor and do some more important work on the farm than feed the cats or hunt. Also, because he has a farm, there is a big, Hugo gargantuan open field, so I can build forts, dig trenches, and a lot of other stuff. His farm is really fun. His farm being really fun affects me because--well, you can guess that easily--because it is fun. Can you start to see why I admire my Grandpa now? I guess you can see why I admire my grandpa, but wait, there's more! Oh-no! You are going to be so board your hair is going to turn blue, your scalp will peel off little by little, and your skull slowly split is half! Just kidding! but there is more, at least one more paragraph. Now, back to the boring stuff that is just like reading a legal document... Grandpas' farm is really really big. (I meant two reallies.) This affects me because it means I have a lot of free space to mess around, explore, build, name structures, and dig for artifacts (I have found some by the way!) He also has about three or four ponds, all of which have fish. He has one in front of his house, behind his house, in the biggest cow pasture, and in the east. They all have places for the cows to get drinks and to wad in the ponds. I can only swim in two of the ponds. This affects me because it means that I have limited places to swim. But believe me, you wouldn't want to swim in the other two ponds, and you really don't want to know why you don't want to swim in 'em. All of them have fish though. This affects me because then I can fish. I love to fish, it's fun, and most of the time the only thing that hurts the fish is the hook through their lip or cheek. Some times I have to cut of its head and gut the fish myself, for dinner. But mostly my grandpa does it. This affects me because then I can learn new stuff and find easier techniques of fillet-ing and "cleaning" the fish. It's really disgusting though. I could describe what the inside of the fish feels and looks like, and tell you how you gut a fish, but you would probably throw-up. There for I will not tell you. The fish tastes really good. This doesn't really affect me. But the great variety of fish in his pond DO. They affect me because then I (how ever rarely) get a good share and taste of what each fish tastes like. He has Bass, Channel Cat-fish, Croppie, Minnows, Blue-gill, and some others. This affects me because I now know what the best tasting fish are. Bass usually taste best fried, but right now my stomach is turning over upside down at the thought of it. Can you see for sure now why I admire grandpa? All these reasons and more are why I admire my grandpa. My grandpas name is Forrest Caswell. He is 72 years old, and is not in the nursing home. He was in the army, is the closest thing to a dad that I have, and currently lives on a farm. Who do you admire? Why do you admire them? ~Matthew Caswell

I admire my grandpa because he is the closest thing to a dad that I have ever had. Grandpa is mostly bald, but the hair he does have is gray. He is about as tall as me, or five feet 4 inches tall.
